Raise Your Style Grades to A+ This Grad Season
Posted On: Apr 14, 2022
Every single student deserves to look perfect for their graduation celebration, especially after the year they’ve had. This year, we’re encouraging our community to donate any formal wear and gowns to Marlborough Mall from April 11 - 27, and enter for a chance to win a $250 Marlborough Mall Gift Card! All donations will be accepted at Guest Services, so be sure to stop by!
We asked Mary Otakpor of @queensplayground to share her fashion tips for the gals (and guys too!) this season if you’re still looking for a little inspiration!
With grad season coming up, one of the top priorities is finding the right dress or suit that represents your individual style. Now the key is to stand out, and for some that may look like overexaggerated ruffles and prints, for others it could be as simple as wearing the right bold colour. Well, with these picks from Marlborough Mall, you can hit both marks. My first pick involves a bold pink colour that comes in a simple style and another for the bold fashionistas of the world. Both options are bright pink but stand out just enough to catch the eye, styled with some pink contrasting shoes and iridescent jewelry with a pink tint and you’re set.
My second pick also stands out but instead of bright bold colour, I went for a more toned-down colour, but with very elegant styles. The first green dress perfectly represents spring/summer and is paired with some contrasting silver jewelry to compliment the silver details on the dress. Now I threw in a nude dress because it is a lot calmer in colour but still bold enough in style to get those compliments. I paired the dress with some nude heels and silver jewelry to compliment the silver/gold details on the dress. The Last dress is a red satin piece. Oftentimes when I think of elegance I see satin, hence my pick. The red dress is a perfect mix of elegance and boldness paired off with contrasting silver jewelry to top off the look.
Men, don't think I forgot about you! It’s easy to put on a plain black or navy suit for grad and call it a date. But, if your date comes in with a beautiful bold dress, it is probably a smart idea to match their fly. Hence the red and black flower-patterned suits. Both suits are bold enough to catch the eye but don’t scream tacky or overdressed. Pair both off with these shoe recommendations and you are good to go.
Now that we have explored some possible dress/suit options for grad, what's your pick, bold or simple?
